With significant investment over the last 5 years our amazing property Horse Shepherd Park is now a multi-faceted equine destination including HSP Advanced Equine and Horse Shepherd Equine Sanctuary. 

In early 2021 the Victorian State Government supported by Andy Meddick AJP announced a funding grant for Horse Shepherd Equine Sanctuary for the purchase of enhanced rehabilitation equipment including a solarium, water treadmill and water spa.

Situated on 200 acres Horse Shepherd Park, 160 Gascards Lane is nestled beside the Whipsticks State Forest in Gordon, 3345 Victoria.

We are thrilled to have a rider of Sophie’s talent as part of the HSP Advanced Equine and Horse Shepherd team.

Sophie’s equestrian journey has taken her from the UK, where she worked for Olympic gold medallist event rider Sam Griffiths, to Australia, where she spent two years with Tim Martin as a pre-trainer and breaker. More recently, she has worked as a track rider for Ciaron Maher, gaining invaluable experience with Thoroughbreds at the elite level.

Coming from a veterinary family, with her father being a vet, Sophie has always had a strong interest in rehabilitation and recovery. She brings a wealth of knowledge, practical horsemanship and an exceptional eye for detail to every horse she works with.

What stands out most about Sophie is her passion for ensuring that every horse that comes through HSP Advanced Equine leaves in a better place than when they arrived — stronger, healthier, more confident and with the very best chance of success.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Sophie’s experience, dedication and compassion helping shape the futures of the horses in our care.

A career Banker and retired Senior Executive at ANZ Bank, Anne is founder and owner of Horse Shepherd Park.

Anne has dedicated the final years of her working life to building a sustainable Equine Rescue. Born and raised in a New Zealand farming family, Anne has always held a strong love of animals.

After 10 years working in Asia, Anne returned to Victoria with a burning desire to provide a Sanctuary for animals in need. Quickly out growing the original 20 acres in 2005 Anne purchased the run down Gascards Lane property and the vision for Horse Shepherd Park began.

Brianna brings a wealth of practical horse experience to Horse Shepherd and HSP Advanced Equine.

Over the years she has retrained a number of Standardbreds, helping them transition into life beyond racing. She has also spent time travelling as a groom for a 2* event rider, gaining valuable experience caring for performance horses both at home and away.

More recently, Brianna has worked extensively as a stablehand, where her quiet, capable approach and strong work ethic have made her a valued part of any team.

When she’s not around horses, you’ll often find her behind the camera. A talented photographer, Brianna has a knack for capturing the personalities and special moments that make life with horses so rewarding.
